WWE put two big title matches against the NFL Draft with Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan for the Universal title and Apollo Crews vs. Big E. In the end it wasn’t enough to prevent Smackdown from losing viewers.
Smackdown’s viewership fell under 2 million in the preliminary overnights. Hour 1 felt the bigger impact of the Draft and was watched by 1.86 million viewers. The second hour with a strong main event gained viewers and brought WWE 1.97 million viewers.
Smackdown averaged a rating of 0.5 in the 18-49 key demographic and tied them with the NFL Draft on ABC as the top shows of the evening.
